    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Associate Athletic Trainer in Women’s Volleyball and Rowing, including the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. The Associate Athletic Trainer will assist in the daily operation of the athletic training room and act as a preceptor in the athletic training program.

    · Provide athletic training coverage and medical care to primary sport and secondary sport as assigned

    · Coordinate the education, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses of student-athletes while possessing a positive attitude in a dynamic team-oriented working environment

    · Supervise Intern Athletic Trainers and assist in the clinical education of athletic training students.

    · Maintain proper injury records, daily treatments and rehab, initial and follow up notes, and special reports as needed through electronic documentation

    · Establish a line of communication with athletes, parents, physicians, and coaches

    · Submit an injury report to the Head Coach, coaching staff, and strength staff of the assigned sports including meeting on a regular basis

    · Communicate on a regular basis with Strength and Conditioning Coaches of assigned sports

    · Follow Policies and Procedures and carry out Emergency Action Plans

    · Assist in the Athletic Insurance process.

    · Recognize and assist in referrals to Sports Nutrition and Mental Health professionals

    · Assist in the planning and coordination of yearly physicals for all student athletes.

    · Serve on the selection committee for intern athletic trainers and new full-time staff

    · Follow the NATA Code of Ethics and follow HIPPA Privacy Rules

    · Upholds NCAA, American Athletic Conference and The University of Tulsa rules and guidelines

    · Maintains BOC Certification as an Athletic Trainer

    · Maintains Oklahoma Athletic Training License

    · Maintain current CPR/AED certification

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Please list any specific education/degree, training, or certification that is required for the successful performance of your job; describe any specialized equipment or technology used in your position, if applicable):

    Master’s degree in a related field and two-three years of experience in athletic training; Eligible for Oklahoma Athletic Training License and possess BOC Certification as an athletic trainer. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, strong work ethic and self-starter, organizational skills and great attention to detail; willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Please list any additional education, training, or certification that is preferred, but not necessarily required, for the successful performance of this job):

    -Applied knowledge of a large range of medical problems that require assessment, evaluation skills and the ability to work with other healthcare professionals.

    -Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisions.

    -Attention to detail with injury tracking and documentation.

    -Ability to communicate effectively in high stress situations and environments when talking to student-athletes, medical professionals, coaches, staff, and families.

    -Have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
