Description: Cone Health is looking for an Athletic Trainer-Outreach to be placed at UNC Greensboro. This role is expected to work with the Division I Women’s Basketball program, and other sports as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. The Athletic Trainer-Outreach supports the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries under the advice and prescription of the Cone Health Team Physicians. This role would work in collaboration with the UNC Greensboro Sports Medicine Team and Cone Health Team Physicians to provide full-time athletic training care to the student-athletes at UNC Greensboro, including but not limited to follow-up care, injury prevention, and treatment programs for injured student athletes. This position is responsible for daily practice and game coverage including management of injuries, organization and administration, implementation of sport performance programming and record keeping. The role is part of the UNC Greensboro Sports Medicine Team and acts as a liaison between Team and family physicians and specialists, the UNC Greensboro Athletics Department, and student athletes. The position is on-site at UNC Greensboro and will require non-traditional work hours, such as nights and weekends for games and other events, as well as significant travel requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- - Perform assessment for clinical examinations, diagnoses athletes’ injuries, and determines athletes’ ability to return to play of need for additional medical treatment.
- - Administers prescribed medications and treatments by the Cone Health Team Physician that aim to return the student athlete to optimal function.
- - Helps assess and evaluate musculoskeletal injuries and conditions in athletes to identify their needs.
- - Performs manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, electrical modalities and hydrotherapy techniques if applicable
- - Provides patient education regarding injury prevention, anatomy, body mechanics, and rehabilitation to create long-lasting health benefits.
- - Create injury reports to Cone Health Team Physicians and document patient recovery and treatment to provide physician with information to assist in updating treatment plans.
- - Administers therapeutic modalities including heat, ice, electrical stimulation, exercise and other treatment modalities to facilitate healing and recovery.
- - Supports the assessment of student-athletes readiness to return to pre-injury activities.
- - Demonstrates proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting oof athletic equipment to stabilize injuries for recovery.

Experience Requirements
- - Preferred: Two+ years of professional experience working in sports medicine at the collegiate level with Women’s or Men’s Basketball experience.

Licensure/Certification
- - NATABOC Certification
- - LAT-Licensed Athletic Trainer by NC Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners (or be eligible to receive)
- - BLS (CPR)- American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
