Description: The Head Football Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care and general well-being of assigned student-athletes. Primary responsibilities include providing immediate health care through an assessment of injuries and illnesses and often complicated short and long term orthopedic rehabilitative care, in addition to identifying mental health and nutritional issues and coordinating appropriate provider referrals. This position is responsible for the oversight and supervision of all full-time football athletic trainers.
Qualifications:
- Licensed as an athletic trainer in the State of Virginia by the time of employment.
- In good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc.
- Previous experience at college/university & NFL/XFL/UFL experience preferred.
- Master’s degree in Athletic Training preferred
- Understands NCAA Division 1 rules/standards
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification maintained
- At least 2-3 years of football experience preferred

Description of Institution: Hampton University is a Division 1 private HBCU institution founded in 1868, located in Hampton, VA. Hampton University 16 athletic teams competes in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). Sports Medicine staff are contracted out through local hospital system, Sentara Health. This position reports directly to the Director of Sports Medicine.
