    Position Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer

    Position Status: Full-Time, Ten-Month Position (August 1-May 31)

    Reports to: Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine

    Salary Range: $42,500 $43,500

    About Catawba College:

    Catawba College Athletics seeks candidates to serve as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position primarily serving Men’s Basketball and secondary sporting assignment (out of season assignments) Subject to change. Position start date would be September 1st, 2024. The sports medicine department will employ 10 full-time staff athletic trainers. Annually Catawba will cover the cost for NATA, NC licensure, BOC dues, and some CEU money as needed.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate and deliver comprehensive athletic training services to Catawba student-athletes
    • Evaluate and treat student-athlete injuries occurring at practices, games, and other Catawba athletic activities
    • In coordination with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, design and supervise rehabilitation programs for student-athletes
    • Administer athletic training operations as assigned and work with team physicians
    • Attend assigned team(s) practices and games
    • Travel with assigned team(s), which will include some holidays and weekends
    • Work primarily with Men’s Basketball - assist with secondary sporting assignment, out of season coverage. Subject to change.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Master’s degree in athletic training or related field preferred, Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Candidate must be nationally certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC) 
    • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required
    • Licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of North Carolina required
    • Candidate must possess strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, and have the ability to work independently with multiple team assignments
    • Intercollegiate athletic training experience preferred, not required

    Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Catawba was started by German pioneers who had traveled from eastern Pennsylvania to settle in the valleys of the Haw, Yadkin, and Catawba Rivers. In 1890, Catawba became a coeducational institution, and the first woman graduate completed her studies in 1893. In 1925, Catawba moved and re-opened to its current location in Salisbury, NC, which is about 45 minutes from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte, two hours from the mountains, and four hours from the beaches.
