    New Mexico State University is seeking to hire a Head Football/Associate Athletic Trainer immediately.

     

    Description

    New Mexico State University is a Division I university located in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  NMSU’s football program competes Conference USA.  NMSU Sports Medicine is looking for a person with high integrity and high ethical standards to fill the Associate Athletic Trainer/Head Football Athletic Trainer position.  This position reports directly to the Director of Sports Medicine.

    Primary responsibilities are include but are not limited to:

    • ·        Providing high quality athletic health care to the NMSU Football program, including: prevention, evaluation, treatment, student-athlete education, and short and long term rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
    • ·        Maintain an updated, evidence based concussion management policy.
    • ·        Maintaining proper and accurate, up-to-date medical records and injury documentation
    • ·        Working closely with allied medical health professionals to ensure proper and swift medical care.
    • ·        Communicating with team physicians, administrators, coaches, and student-athletes regarding student-athlete health and well-being.
    • ·        Any other duties assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine

    Minimum Qualifications

    • ·        Bachelors'  degree in athletic training, health science, or a related field
    • ·        Current National Athletic Trainer’s Association, Board of Certification (NATABOC) and CPR/AED certification
    • ·        State of New Mexico Athletic Trainers’ Practice Board License or eligible to receive (required)
    • ·        Three years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined

    Preferred Qualifications

    • ·        A minimum of four (4) years post graduate, football experience in the college/university/professional level
    • ·        Strong written and oral communication skills
    • ·        Strong organizational skills
    • ·        Experience with successful rehabilitation
    Experience supervising certified athletic trainers
