Elmira College, a small, private, liberal arts institution in Upstate New York, member of NCAA Division III, Empire 8, United Collegiate Hockey Conference and the United Volleyball Conference (19 varsity sports) invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a 10-month, Exempt appointment running from August 1st to May 31st each year. Under the general supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer provides support and assistance for all aspects of the Sports Medicine program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Assist in the coordination and implementation of pre-physical screenings, baseline testing (i.e. Impact Test), Drug education, etc. • Completing injury documentation including accident reports and insurance forms • Assist in the coordination of a Concussion Management program • Communicate with local medical professionals regarding athletes injury status and progress • Injury evaluation and referral of student athletes • Design and monitor treatment and rehabilitation programs for injured athletes • Provide pre-participation taping, padding, strapping, stretching, etc. • Assist coaches in developing and maintaining an effective program of physical conditioning designed to develop strength and endurance Qualifications include: • Bachelor’s degree is required, master’s preferred • Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the NATABOC • Registration in New York state. Current certification in CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer or BLS • Valid driver’s license.
