Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA will have a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer position open soon. The anticipated start date for the position is August 1st, 2024. The position is a 12-month, fully benefited position that includes a CE allowance and paid NATA and BOC fees. The position will provide primary athletic training coverage to MVB and tennis.
Description:
Pepperdine University's Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for the preventive injury program as well as the treatment and care of athletic injuries for all intercollegiate sports within the University. This person is to be personally and professionally in harmony with the mission of Pepperdine University.
Duties
- Perform "athlete centered" medicine with the health and safety of the student-athlete as the top priority. Provide injury and illness evaluation, management, triage, treatment, referral, and follow-up care to NCAA Division I athletes. Serve as the point of contact for each assigned athlete within the department for concerns related to mental and physical health. Provide medical referrals to other health care providers as necessary.
- Refer injuries as needed and administer treatment and rehabilitation as directed by the physician. Maintain accurate records regarding treatment, injuries and rehabilitation programs. Maintain records under HIPAA regulations.
- Assist the Director of Sports Medicine in managing and supervising the athletic training room and satellite athletic training areas.
- Know, understand and comply with polices of Pepperdine University, the NCAA and various league offices.
- Work closely with head coaches and strength and conditioning coaches, keep them informed on the nature of injuries.
- Assist with Pre-participation physical (PPE) exam planning and coordination for students athletes.
- Inform the coaches whether or not an athlete will be allowed to practice or participate in athletic contests.
- Establish a written set of aims, goals and objectives for the programs under your supervision with an update and review each year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree required. 2-5 years experience working at the collegiate level. Certified member in good standing of the National Athletic Training Association. Capable of working both independently and as a team member; results oriented; self starter, proactive. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, written and verbal. Ability to work effectively with external constituents. Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal constituents, particularly senior staff, coaching staff, and other appropriate University staff. Experience using database management systems and other common office computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheet, email and browser applications.

Expected Pay Rate: $66,560 per year
