Job Description
The Director of Sports Medicine will provide and/or supervise the Medical Care of student-athletes under the direction of the Team Physician and the administrative direction of the Director of Athletics. This person will identify the professional medical service needs of the entire intercollegiate athletic department regarding the scheduling and coordination of athletic training staff for all team practices, competitions, and Sports Medicine Center treatment and rehabilitation. This individual will also have practice and game/event coverage as well as travel, and the prevention, assessment, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries sustained by Anderson Athletes. Administrative responsibilities include budget oversight, inventory control, and electronic medical records management.
Qualifications
BOC certified, Master’s degree preferred (Bachelor’s required), Indiana licensure (or eligible), CPR/AED certified, minimum of three (3) years related experience in intercollegiate athletics, prior administrative experience preferred. The desire to work in a departmental “team” atmosphere is essential for this position. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student population. An understanding of and commitment to the mission of a Christian college is required. Must meet university lifestyle expectations.

The Bill and Gloria Gaither Sports Medicine Center is located in the Kardatzke Wellness Center (KWC), a 132,000 sq. ft. facility providing programming for health, recreation, and wellness in all forms-spiritually, emotionally, physically, and socially.
The Bill and Gloria Gaither Sports Medicine Center is a 4,000 sq. ft. space that houses 4 athletic trainers and 1 graduate assistant, a physician’s office, a large open treatment/rehabilitation area with appropriate modalities, locker rooms for staff, and an extensive hydrotherapy area, in addition to a 450 sq. ft. dedicated taping area.
