The Athletic Trainer position typically demonstrates expanding basic knowledge and skill in standard prevention, emergency care, evaluation, treatment & rehabilitation techniques; follows standard principles and uses appropriate medical terminology; participates as a team member in a collaborative environment; actively contributes to completion of team goals and assigned tasks; clearly communicates in written and verbal form; complies with and has basic knowledge of policies & procedures; refers to supervisors for policy and procedure related decisions; typically works under direct supervision using established procedures and protocols; follows recommended approach to assigned work to facilitate achievement of desired results.

DUTIES:
SPORT COVERAGE: Primary coverage Div. 1 Men's basketball and softball. Typically provides direct care for athletic team activities. Assists in facilitating and implementing all aspects of health care for assigned team, including but not limited to: prevention, practice/event coverage, injury evaluation, physician referral, medical appointments, treatment and rehabilitation and team travel. Responsible for activating the Emergency Action Plan for sports/venues as assigned.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Maintains proper medical records in accordance with all government and university guidelines. Adheres to existing University and appropriate external regulatory agency (i.e. NATABOC, OHLA, NCAA) guidelines and safety policies. Completes appropriate paperwork including but not limited to incident or injury reports for departmental accountability. Assists with sports medicine department administrative duties as assigned (no solo responsibilities.)
SUPERVISION: Supervises athletic training students as assigned. Acts as a mentor for Intern Athletic Trainer.
COMMUNICATION: Responsible for basic day-to-day communication (including participation status) with athletes, coaches, strength & conditioning staff, physicians, sports medicine staff, athletic department staff, and administration as assigned.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Earns and maintains appropriate professional certifications; displays a willingness to learn and is building upon exposure to advanced topics and skills within the field of athletic training; stays current in related research and trends; seeks to expand working knowledge.

- 2-3 years collegiate experience preferred
