    Position: Full time Athletic Trainer. 

    Summary:

    The Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Director of Sports Medicine and is responsible for providing comprehensive sports medicine services to student-athletes, ensuring their health, safety, and optimal performance. This position requires a deep understanding of sports injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation. This role is crucial in ensuring the health and wellness of student-athletes, integrating medical expertise with athletic excellence, and supporting student-athletes in achieving peak performance. The Athletic Trainer will collaborate with coaches and other staff to optimize athletes’ performance and well-being.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct pre-participation evaluations and screenings to assess athletes’ readiness to participate in sports activities.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive injury prevention programs tailored to the needs of each of the athletic teams.
    • Provide immediate and emergency care for injuries occurring during practices, games, or training sessions
    • Evaluate and diagnose sports injuries, determining appropriate treatment plans and referrals as necessary
    • Provide hands-on treatment and therapeutic interventions, such as manual therapy and therapeutic exercise
    • Design and oversee rehabilitation programs for injured athletes, coordinating with physical therapists and health professionals

    • Monitor athletes’ progress throughout the rehabilitation process, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal recovery

    • Educate coaches, student-athletes, and athletic staff on sports injury prevention strategies, proper conditioning techniques, and recognition of injury signs and symptoms

    • Serve as a liaison between student-athletes, coaches, parents, and healthcare providers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration

    • Assist in the processing of medical insurance claims
    • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress
    • Develop and distribute Carolina University Sports Medicine information to visiting teams and gather their student-athlete medical needs in a timely manner
    • Stay current with advancements in sports medicine and athletic training practices through continuing education and professional development
    • Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine

    Skills and Abilities:

    *Compensation is commensurate with experience.
