Description: This graduate assistantship integrates clinical athletic training responsibilities with doctoral-level research and coursework in Biomechanics and Kinesiology. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer and the Executive Associate Athletic Director for Health & Performance, the position provides hands-on experience in evaluating, treating, and rehabilitating athletic injuries; assisting with physical examinations; mentoring athletic training students; and providing practice and game coverage, including regular travel with our baseball team. The role also offers the opportunity to work in our biomechanics pitching lab, using cutting‑edge technology and performance‑monitoring resources to support athlete health, guide return‑to‑play decisions, and contribute to innovative project design. In addition, the graduate assistant will work alongside a full interdisciplinary performance team—including sports psychology, registered dietitians, sports scientists, strength and performance staff, and the sports medicine team—to deliver comprehensive, athlete‑centered care. Alongside these clinical responsibilities, the position includes active engagement in research through study design, data collection and analysis, interpretation of results, and scientific writing under faculty mentorship. The role requires nontraditional hours, offers a diverse set of responsibilities, and is renewable annually for up to four years based on performance.
Qualifications: Master’s degree Required. BOC Certified are eligible to apply. Must be certified by June 1, 2026 to begin appointment. Qualified applicants must meet admission requirements for the PhD in Biomechanics and Kinesiology program and be admitted into the program before being eligible for an assistantship. Required Certification: BOC Certification, NE State License (or eligible). Experience with Men’s and Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics.
