    Job Summary:

    We're looking for a dedicated Associate Head Athletic Trainer for Sports Medicine to lead the care, prevention, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. This role involves hands-on treatment, collaboration with medical professionals, and mentorship of student athletic trainers.     Pay range $70,000 - $72,000

    Job Description:

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Master's degree in a related field

    • Certification through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC)

    • CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers (AHA or ARC)

    • 3+ years of experience (collegiate level preferred)

    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

    • Administrative skills, including EMR proficiency (Healthy Roster preferred)

    • Flexible schedule with travel required

    • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse population is preferred

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    • Leading the care, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries

    • Managing medical records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA/FERPA regulations

    • Coordinating medical referrals and working with team physicians

    • Traveling with teams for games and events, including team driving responsibilities

    • Mentoring and supervising assistant athletic trainers and athletic training students

    • Collaborating with coaches and strength staff to develop safe training programs

    • Overseeing administrative duties like insurance claims, inventory, and scheduling

    • Ensuring compliance with NCAA and PacWest Conference regulations

    Qualifications  

    Required Education/Certifications

    • Masters’ degree in related field

    • Certification through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification

    • CPR, AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification (AHA or ARC)

    Required Experience

    • 3 years’ experience, collegiate level preferred

    • Eligible for Athletic Training Preceptor Status

    • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant

    • The job offer is contingent on the successful completion of a background check. PLNU  will consider qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with state and local "Fair Chance" laws.

    Physical Requirements

    • Standing and sitting for periods greater than one hour.  Push, pull, bend, twist, grasp, reach, and lift up to 75 lbs throughout the day. 

    • Ability to perform the manual tasks associated with manual therapy for both evaluation and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

    • Ability to manually assist ambulation of injured athletes.

    • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Requires repetitive motions.

    • Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor.  

    • Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Visual acuity necessary for evaluations and wound debridement. 

    • Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.
