    WinnMed located in Decorah Iowa seeks a full time Associate Athletic Trainer. Through a unique and collaborative partnership between WinnMed and Luther College, the Associate Athletic Trainer assists the Head Athletic Trainer with the responsibilities of managing the athletic training services at Luther College with the understanding of current NCAA Division III and NATA policies and procedures.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists with the development and maintenance of overall athletic training services for the Athletic Department at Luther College

          o Injury Prevention Programs

          o Injury Evaluations

          o Injury Management

          o Injury Treatment/Rehabilitation

          o Psychological Aspects/Counseling of student-athletes

    • Assists with coordination and scheduling of athletic training coverage for scheduled team practices and home/away competitions

    • Assists with scheduling physician visits and medical referrals for student-athletes

    • Assists with the management of pre-participation requirements/insurance for student-athletes

    • Works in conjunction with health services and medical physicians/coaches/athletic performance staff

    • Maintains record keeping and documentation along with other administrative duties as required

    • Conducts Institutional drug testing for student-athletes

    • Coordinate and manage work study students and tasks


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None


    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

       Education: Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field

       Experience: Minimum of 2 years of collegiate experience recommended but not required

       Certifications/Licensures:

             • BOC certified

             • Possess or be in the process of acquiring an Iowa Athletic Training Licensure

             • CPR/AED Professional Rescuer Certified

             • John Hopkins Contact Tracing Certification recommended but not required


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Required to stand for long periods of time

    • Required or may need to lift more than 20 pounds

    • Required or may be exposed to hazardous materials or caustic chemicals

    • Required to use power tools, machinery, or other equipment

    • Required to use knives, cutters, or other sharp objects

    • Required to climb on lifts, ladders, scaffolding, or other apparatus

    • Exposed to liquids or oils with temperatures such as extreme hot or cold that could potentially cause injuries

    • Required to operate a utility vehicle

    • May be exposed to blood borne pathogens

    • Required to work outside and potentially exposure to inclement weather
