    Assistant Athletic Trainer - Southwestern Assemblies of God University - Waxahachie, Texas.

    The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for working in conjunction with the Director of Athletic Training.

    Position is a 10 month position from August 1 - May 31 

    Responsibilities

    • Duties assigned by Director of Athletic Training.
    • Assist in the daily operation and supervision of the athletic training facilities.
    • Assist in maintenance of all athletic training records.
    • Provide positive direction and leadership in the athletic training program. 
    • Provide appropriate healthcare for all student-athletes. 
    • Travel with athletic teams as assigned and directed. 
    • Maintain regular office hours.
    •  A conflict of interest occurs when athletic training personnel have a personal relationship with a student-athletic trainer, student-athlete or undergraduate student. Therefore, this is prohibited. 
    • Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities within the athletic program and adheres to the NATA Code of Ethics for his/her profession.
    •  Understands the organizational culture, the role of athletics within the SAGU community, and a willingness to consistently perpetuate and display the mission of SAGU through actions and words with athletes, coaches, university personnel and general public.

    • Employee may perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
    • Possible Adjunct teaching assignments if qualified.

    Qualifications

    • Education Bachelor’s Degree is required, Masters is preferred. 
    • Licensed by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations - Athletic Training
    • Certified in First Aid, CPR and AED for Professional Rescuer 
    • Solid working knowledge of football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, soccer, track and field, and softball, athletic training guidelines and common injuries and rehabilitation. 
    • Should have knowledge and be familiar with NAIA and NCCAA rules and regulations regarding practice regulation by athletic training professionals. 
    Skills and Abilities 
    • Good organizational and computer skills with injury tracking software.
    • Be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with coaches and teams.
    • Possess written and oral communication skills. 
    • Employee may offer services for pay to other institutions if no conflict exists with SAGU work schedule. 
    • Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. 
    • Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle and possess a valid state driver’s license or have access to reliable transportation. 
    • Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record. 
    • Employee will be evaluated annually.
