    Merrimack College Department of Athletics has multiple openings for Athletic Training Graduate Fellows. The Athletic Training Graduate Fellows receive 100% full tuition in the School of Health Sciences in one of the approved Master’s programs. Graduate Fellows serve as vital members of the sports medicine team and work alongside staff athletic trainers, team physicians, orthopedic consultants, physical therapists, as well as graduate and undergraduate athletic training students.

    Graduate Fellows are assigned to specific sports based on experience and skills, providing overall athletic healthcare to assigned teams including the prevention, evaluation, management, rehabilitation and documentation of athletic injuries. (Possible Sports include football, soccer, W lax, baseball, M/W Tennis, M/W Golf)

    In addition, Graduate Fellows will assist with the daily operation of the athletic training room including opening, stocking supplies, general organization and closing procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work space. The Graduate Fellows will work 25 hours a week and it is an expectation of the position to travel with teams as needed as well as work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Provide onsite care and management of student-athlete injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.
    • Ensure proper electronic documentation of all patient interactions.
    • Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs.
    • Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education and prevention strategies.
    • Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student-athletes with restrictions or limitations.
    • Demonstrate a service-focused and solution-oriented approach in working with student-athletes, coaches and colleagues.
    • Collaborate and communicate with strength and conditioning staff as related to injury prevention and rehabilitation.
    • Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury and health status of student-athletes.
    • Fulfill medical care responsibilities for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures.
    • Responsible for other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Requirements:

    • Board of Certification (BOC) Certified
    • Eligible for Massachusetts  state licensure upon applying to Merrimack
    • Licensed in Massachusetts upon starting fellowship
    • Acceptance into an eligible Master’s program in the School of Health Science at Merrimack College
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Travel with teams for away contests as required.
