Job Description: This position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of athletic training/sports medicine services in the sport of Softball with secondary sport coverage as determined by the Assistant A.D. for Sports Medicine.
- Evaluate and diagnose athletic-related injuries and illnesses and provide proper treatment and appropriate medical referral as indicated
- Assess injury rehabilitation program and implement changes as needed
- Monitor return to play progression from injury/illness and modify progression based on individualized response
- Collaborate with numerous individuals including student-athletes, administrators, coaches and medical providers to provide optimal care for student-athletes
- Communicate with sport coaches regarding medical clearance of student-athletes to participate in practice and/or competition and in an effective manner
- Resolve conflicts regarding urgency, timeline and priorities for treatment and care
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in health and exercise science, sports medicine, kinesiology, anatomy or related field
- Current NATA certification required
- Minimum of two years of previous experience as a certified athletic trainer required, preferably in an intercollegiate sports medicine or athletic training program at the NCAA Division I level
- Current registration as an athletic trainer with the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) required prior to the start date of employment (see www.dora.state.co.us/athletic-trainer/ATOriginal.pdf for additional information)
- High level of clinic athletic training skills
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively and productively within a team-based approach
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a high demand/high stress profession
- Ability to respond professionally and competently in emergency situations
- Computer and social media technology competency
- Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date
