    Typical Duties

    Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will coordinate at a high-level athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation for VCU intercollegiate student-athletes. The sport assignment will be Men's Soccer & Women's Tennis. Employee is required to keep accurate records of all treatments of athletic injuries and organize the training room.

    Typical Education and Experience

    Minimum hiring standards include:


    -Bachelor’s degree;
    -Two (2) years’ experience working within collegiate athletics;
    -Valid driver’s license and ability to drive University vehicles;
    -Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU;
    -Able to work independently, as well as part of a team in a multi-tasking environment, with a strong sense of principles and ethics in regard to the welfare of the student-athletes.

    Preferred hiring standards:

    -Experience working with Men's Soccer & Women's Tennis within Division I Athletics;
    -Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, which include nights and weekends;
    -Advanced degree or experience, which equates to an advanced degree; and
    -Instructor certification in CPR/First Aid.

    Typical Licensure

    -Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications and NATABOC certification.
    -Employee must be eligible for the Virginia Athletic Trainer License.

    Job Specific Physical and Cognitive Requirements

    Physical demands - lifting >50 lbs; pushing/pulling; standing; sitting; repetitive motion; walking; climbing; reaching; bending

    Environmental conditions - extreme heat/cold; extreme noise; vibrations; fumes; mists/gases

    Emotional demands - fast pace; multiple stimuli; frequent change; intense customer interaction

    Mental/sensory demands - memory; reasoning; hearing; reading; analyzing; logic; verbal and written communication

    Salary Range: Up to $48,000
