    Summary Description Provide education, independent health care, and preventative services for our varsity student-athletes, coaching staff, and members of the Athletic Department.  Work closely with other full-time athletic trainers, physical therapist, and the athletic insurance coordinator to assist in the day-to-day management of the athletic department’s intercollegiate sports medicine operation and provide effective delivery of athletic training services.

    Pay Information The minimum salary for this position will be $45,833.00/year

    The pay range reflects base pay for positions in a given pay band across the college. Individual rates are determined within the range by factors including one’s qualifications, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same band and department budget.     Responsibilities:
    • Comply with the Colorado College Athletic Department, NCAA, affiliated conference and professional organizational policies, procedures, trainings and codes of ethics.
    • Maintain a professional image while representing the college at games, practices, away trips, conventions or meetings and in the local community.
    • Provide all aspects of medical care for varsity athletic injuries including, evaluation of injuries and illnesses, developing and applying treatment and rehabilitation programs through the use of therapeutic modalities, exercise, and manual treatment; determine necessity for specific medical referral; exercise professional medical communication skills interacting with coaches, physicians, athletic department staff, EMS, student athletes, and parents as well as with all members of the Sports Medicine Staff to determine effective correlation between return to play and rehabilitation efforts; maintain proper, accurate, current and confidential documentation of all aspects of medical treatment provided. 
    • Provide primary sport coverage for either our Division I (Mountain West Conference) Women’s Soccer program and/or multiple Division III sports to be determined by the Associate AD for Sports Performance and Wellness based on experience of the successful hired candidate. Coverage to include home practices and competitions, as well as travel to offsite games depending on the sport covered; provide outreach medical coverage for host events at off campus venue as determined by the composite sports medicine schedule.  Sports assigned will be reviewed and may be revised annually to best match staffing talents and interests, as well as to maintain equality and balance of coverage requirements within the staff.
    • Assist with the administration of the daily operational requirements of the sports medicine department.
    • Provide direct supervision and contribution to student athletic trainer and physical therapy aide education.
    • Attend and assist with annual/monthly/weekly meetings required by the sports medicine department, athletic department, or college.
    • Remain active in the athletic training profession through continuing education opportunities.
    • Maintain a positive rapport and relationship with the athletic department staff, college faculty, staff and students; promote an environment and relationships with students and the campus community that reflects inclusion and respect for diversity and equitable practices.
    Additional Responsibilities: o Actively support the college’s plan to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.
    o Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe
    situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
    o Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college’s sustainability
    initiatives and innovation.
    o Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited institution in athletic training,; BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing with the BOC, NATA, and other national/state regulatory agencies; must possess a current and valid State of Colorado licensure number or be eligible to immediately obtain this licensure; must be certified in First-aid, CPR, and AED use as a Professional Rescuer by the ARC/AHA; must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier; ability to work extended hours, early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays frequently due to the athletic seasons.  Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 50 lbs., travel on a plane, bus or in vans for an extended period of time and the ability to stand for long periods of time.  Must possess a current passport or get one within 90 days of hire for international travel with athletic teams. Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds
    Preferred Qualifications: Strong clinical and interpersonal skills; exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills, and have the ability to work independently as well as with other staff; experience working in a collegiate, co-educational environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills; working knowledge of insurance referral systems for athletic injury claims; proficiency in standard office equipment, and the use of electronic medical record system software; basic knowledge of NCAA rules for Division I & Division III athletics.
